The Terroir and its vines
By the end of 2011, the Domaine acquired a 27 ares vine in Les Pucelles climat, a famous Puligny Montrachet Premier Cru, south-east facing. This plot is located in the former " Clos des Meix" in the heart of Les Pucelles. The clay-limestone soil is very fine, of a deep ochre colour.
It is an ideal terroir for the greatest white wines produced with the Chardonnay vine variety. This vineyard was planted in 1971, with a density of 10.000 vines per hectare.
The 2012 Vintage
This first vintage harvested in Puligny Montrachet was
characterized by a cold, wet spring, resulting in some flower abortion and
uneven grape size. Hail storms in July and August further reduced the crop.
Good weather in September enabled us to pick well-ripened grapes on 24 September. The yield was 33 hectolitres per hectare. The wines were fermented and matured entirely in oak barrels, with 50 % new barrels.
Bottling took place on 16 September 2013: 900 standard-sized bottles and 100 magnums.
Notes: this wine will be available mid 2014
